The young officers will be instrumental in rebuilding trust, ensuring effective governance, and maintaining law and order.
In a major step to strengthen the state police force, the Central Government has deputed a record 16 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers from the 2024 batch to the state. This marks the highest-ever single-year posting of IPS officers to Manipur.
The step is aimed at strengthening the administrative machinery and improving on-ground policing, as well as intelligence coordination in the state.
The scale of this year’s deployment stands in stark contrast to previous years. According to reports, in 2018 no officers were deputed, in 2019, 2 officers were deputed, in 2020, 1 officer was deputed and in 2021, 3 officers were deputed.
Senior officials from the Home Ministry said the unprecedented posting reflects the Centre’s deep commitment to restoring normalcy in Manipur. The young officers will be instrumental in rebuilding trust, ensuring effective governance, and maintaining law and order.
The officers will be deployed across key districts, with a focus on community engagement, conflict resolution, and enhanced intelligence coordination.
Moreover as per reports, there were vacancies in the Manipur Police for IPS officers.
