The organisation said that during the bandh, exceptions will be made for medical emergencies, essential public services, and educational purposes.

Due to the indefinite shutdown called by the Rongmei Naga Council Manipur Ntai – Phai Luangrian or the RNCM- NTL along NH-37 from Imphal-Jiribam Road and in along Tongjei Maril Road from Bisnupur-Khoupum-Rengpang Road, all types of vehicles were off the road along these two routes.

The bandh supporters blocked the road by cutting down trees and putting huge rocks on the road. Tyres were also burnt in the middle of the road.

The indefinite total shutdown has began from the midnight of August 18 demanding for Alternative Administrative Arrangment to Noney Distrct for the minority Naga Tribes living in the foothills of Kangpokpi and Churachandpur Distrct as they are facing inconveniences to go to their respective District Headquarters.

The blockade is in protest against the state government’s alleged failure to implement Alternative Administration Arrangement to Noney Distrct which seeks to include minority Naga Tribes living in the foothills of Kangpokpi and Churachandpur District for administrative conveniences.

Earlier, the organisation said that during the bandh, exceptions will be made for medical emergencies, essential public services, and educational purposes.

Individuals facing medical emergencies or those carrying necessary documentation will be permitted to pass through the blockade.

According to the RNCM, minority tribes in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, face inconveniences while travelling to their respective District headquarters.
