Manipur Police Arrest Prime Accused in Differently Abled Person Abdul Qadir’s Murder

So far, police have arrested 10 people in connection with the case, seven Arambai Tenggol members and three civilians.

In a major breakthrough, Manipur Police on Sunday arrested the prime accused in the murder of Abdul Qadir, a differently-abled man who went missing on June 10 and was found dead a week later, buried along the banks of the Nambul River.

The police identified the accused as Longjam Khaba Singh alias Boi, a resident of Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong. He is reportedly a commander of Arambai Tenggol. Police arrested him from Mongsangei Makha Leikai Arubam Leikai, near Puthiba Laibung Complex in Imphal West district.

In an official release, Manipur Police confirmed that Khaba Singh played main role in the murder of Md Chesam Abdul Qadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai.

So far, police have arrested 10 people in connection with the case, seven Arambai Tenggol members and three civilians.

The case has triggered widespread outrage across the state. Wangoi AC MLA Khuraijam Loken, along with members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the case, met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to press for justice.

The JAC also urged authorities to hand over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and ensure justice is delivered under the law.

The brutal murder of Abdul Qadir, who was reportedly abducted and buried alive, has shocked the state and raised serious concerns over the rising power of armed groups. The victim’s family and civil society groups continue to demand swift and fair investigation.
