Manipur: One KCP (Taibangnganba) Cadre Arrested for Extortion in Kakching, Imphal West, and Thoubal Areas

The arrested cadre identified as Koijam Uperjit Singh (29) was arrested from Elangkhanpokpi in Kakching district yesterday.
Continuing its crackdown on insurgent activities, Manipur Police have arrested one cadre of the proscribed outfit KCP (Taibangnganba) for his involvement in extortion operations affecting the Kakching, Imphal West, and Thoubal areas.
The arrested cadre identified as Koijam Uperjit Singh (29) was arrested from Elangkhanpokpi in Kakching district yesterday.
“On 27.08.2024, Manipur Police arrested 01 (one) cadre of proscribed outfit KCP (Taibangnganba) from Elangkhanpokpi, Kakching District. The arrested person is identified as Koijam Uperjit Singh (29) yrs. He was involved in extortion from the public of Kakching, Imphal West and Thoubal area,” Manipur Police posted on X.

On Monday, police arrested 4 cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party – People’s War Group (KCP-PWG).
During the operation, authorities recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and other warlike weapons.
In a follow-up operation, police conducted a massive search in the Langoljam Kangjeibung, Kamong, Leimaram, Irengbam, and Heinoubok areas of Bishnupur district yesterday and dismantled a KCP (PWG) shelter house in Kamong.
Additionally, police have recovered 6 four-wheeler vehicles and various military items from the Leimaram area, including combat dress, boots, belts, sleeping bags, blankets, bulletproof vests, helmets, cooking utensils, and dishes.
The crackdown continues as police work to flush out and arrest additional insurgents, aiming to restore peace and security in the region.
“In a follow up to the arrest of 04 (four) KCP (PWG) cadres on 26.08.2024, Manipur Police conducted a massive operation in the general areas of Langoljam Kangjeibung, Kamong, Leimaram, Irengbam and Heinoubok of Bishnupur District and busted a shelter house of KCP (PWG) in Kamong area and recovered the following items from Leimaram areas: i.06 (six) four-wheeler vehicles and other miscellaneous items including various military fatigues such as combat dress, boots, belts, sleeping bags, blankets, bulletproof vests, helmets, cooking utensils, dishes etc. Further, search to flush out and arrest miscreants from the areas continues,” the Manipur Police tweeted.
