Along with the rest of the country, Manipur observed Vijay Diwas on Wednesday to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in 1971.
State Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar Singh participated in the Vijay Divas celebrations at the Banquet Hall of 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles.
Taking to Twitter Biren Singh said, “Attended the Observance of Vijay Diwas at 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Banquet Hall and paid rich tributes to martyrs who laid down their lives for the Nation during the Indo-Pak war of 1971.”
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister lauded the bravehearts who fought in the gruesome war of 1971, saying that despite not being well-equipped it was the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice shown by the Indian Army jawans that ultimately won the war and liberated East Pakistan.
The CM also said that the Indian Armed forces is one of the most powerful in the world and is capable of handling any type of external aggression.
During his address, Biren Singh also spoke about the recent surgical strikes executed by India and the successful restoration of control along LAC at Ladakh.
