The event served as a powerful reminder of the people’s collective resolve to protect the state's unity, identity, and territorial integrity.

Manipur today marked the 24th Great June Uprising Unity Day, commemorating the 18 brave individuals who sacrificed their lives during the massive public protest on June 18, 2001.

The All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) and the United Committee Manipur (UCM) jointly organised the event at Kekrupat in Imphal West, drawing thousands of participants, including the families of the martyrs.

People gathered in large numbers to pay floral tributes and participate in rituals held in honour of the 18 individuals who died opposing the Government of India’s decision to extend the ceasefire agreement with the NSCN(IM) “without territorial limits.” People of the state saw this move as a serious threat to the territorial integrity of Manipur.

Addressing the media, AMUCO President Nando Luwang appealed to all communities to uphold unity and resist any actions that could challenge Manipur’s territorial integrity.

He urged the Government of India to avoid pursuing divisive policies that could hurt the sentiments of the people. “Manipur has always stood united in the face of challenges, and it will rise again if any attempt is made to fragment our land,” he said.

The event served as a powerful reminder of the people’s collective resolve to protect the state’s unity, identity, and territorial integrity.
