Manipur: Imas of Khwairamband Meet Governor, Request Him To Find Solution to Ongoing Conflict

The Imas of the Khwairamband Ima Market is facing severe complications owing to the prevailing situation in the state as far as carrying out their businesses is concerned.

To find a solution, representatives of the only-women market in Imphal have sought Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya’s intervention.

On Tuesday, representatives of Khwairamband Ima Market led by Thingujam Rani Devi called on Governor Acharya at Raj Bhavan and urged him to solve the ongoing violence and restore peace and normalcy in the State.

A delegation of the Imas requested that he find a permanent solution to the present conflict and restore peace in the state.

Representatives also submitted a memorandum highlighting the severe impact of the 14-month conflict on livelihoods and economic activities, especially affecting women.

During the meeting, the governor gave a patient hearing to the Imas and assured them that both the state and central governments are committed to resolving the conflict.

He said, all agencies have been directed to cooperate with each other and give their best efforts to ensure safety and security of the people.

Further, the governor also appealed to the women leaders to extend their fullest cooperation to the government in bringing back complete peace and tranquillity in the state.
