There is also a possibility that the party may keep the name of the new leader confidential until the official swearing-in.

Speculation is mounting over former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s future, with reports suggesting that he may be nominated as a Rajya Sabha MP from a BJP-ruled state. However, no confirmation has been made regarding his next political move.

Meanwhile, the BJP high command has been unable to finalise a new Chief Minister for Manipur, despite a series of meetings held since Biren Singh’s resignation on February 9. BJP’s North East in-charge Sambit Patra, who had been stationed in Imphal since the resignation, met several MLAs in an attempt to select a new CM face.

However, the discussions failed to yield a consensus, and Patra left Imphal yesterday morning.

According to reports, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s return from a foreign visit, the BJP high command convened a meeting in Delhi last evening to deliberate on restoring an elected government in Manipur.

Another crucial meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, where PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President JP Nadda will discuss the political situation.

Sources suggest that the meeting may result in the appointment of an Advisor to the Governor, which could delay the swearing-in of a new Chief Minister by at least two months. However, there is also a possibility that the party may keep the name of the new leader confidential until the official swearing-in.
Manipur has been under President’s Rule(Suspended animation) since February 13, following Biren Singh’s resignation.
