Manipur: Autopsy Reports Reveal Gruesome Killing of 3 of the 6 Abducted from Jiribam on Nov 11

The autopsy reports of three victims from a Meitei family, who were abducted from Jiribam district, Manipur, on November 11 and killed, reveal they suffered multiple gunshot wounds and brutal injuries.
The killings have sparked outrage across the state, with the government’s seven-day deadline to act against the perpetrators ending today without significant developments.
The victims, including three women and three minors, were allegedly abducted by armed militants during an encounter in Borobekra subdivision of Jiribam district. Their bodies were later discovered m in the Barak river near the Manipur-Assam border and sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) for post-mortem examinations.
Among the victims, two-year-old Laishram Chingkhei Nganba Singh suffered a gunshot wound to the face, had his right eye missing, and showed signs of blunt force trauma. His mother, 25-year-old Laishram Heitombi Devi, was shot four times, with bullets fatally damaging her heart and lungs. Sixty-eight-year-old Yurembam Rani Devi sustained five bullet wounds to her skull, chest, abdomen, and arm.
Autopsy reports for the other three victims, including an eight-month-old baby, are awaited.
The brutal killings have fueled large-scale protests since November 16 in the Imphal valley, with citizens demanding accountability. On November 18, the state’s MLAs passed a resolution urging a crackdown on Kuki militants responsible for the heinous crime. Despite the resolution and a set deadline, no official updates on action have been released so far.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is probing the case. However, frustration and anger remain high as the public continue to wait for justice. Government has imposed the curfew and mobile internet suspension from November 16 to curb the further violence and all the schools, colleges and universities were also remained close.
