Man held for allegedly sexually harassing woman in a moving train

The victim said that her pleas for help were largely ignored by her co-passengers
A man has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a woman in a moving train. The incident took place in the Sealdah-Kanchenjunga express.
According to sources, the accused allegedly touched the girl in an inappropriate way, when she was sleeping, and began sexually harassing her. At this point the girl woke up and created a commotion after which the accused was caught.
The girl then recorded a live video exposing the face of the accused.
The accused has been identified as Abhijit Raut.
The victim, in a telephonic interview with Northeast Live said, “The accused entered the train in a drunk condition at the Alipur Dwar station around 10 p.m. Later in the night when I was sleeping, around 2 a.m, I felt an inappropriate touch. When I asked him why he was touching me he told me not to say about it to anyone. My pleas for help after that were ignored by my co-passengers and only my brother and a bed roll provider boy stepped forward to help me.”
She also informed that the man boarded the train without a ticket and was calling someone to arrange a ticket for him. Even the ticket checkers (TCs) moved away from the spot as if this was a normal incident, she added.
Later he was handed over to RPF.
The accused has since been arrested and a case has been registered in the Rangia Police station.
