Major Drug Bust in Agartala: 8 Traffickers Arrested, Heroin Worth Rs 4 Lakh Seized

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, eight drug traffickers were arrested from various locations in Agartala on Wednesday during a special NDPS operation launched by the East Agartala Police Station, a senior police official said.
During the operation, four cases of heroin, cash, and mobile phones were seized. The arrests took place at multiple locations, including a park near MBB College, Agartala Town Hall area, and Gol Bazaar. The seized narcotics are estimated to be worth over Rs 4 lakh.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sadar, Deba Prasad Roy, stated that the operation was based on intelligence gathered by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of East Agartala Police Station. “This special drive against narcotics has started yielding results,” he said.
The arrested individuals will be presented before the court today, with the police seeking remand for further interrogation. OC East Agartala Police Station, Rana Chatterjee, was also present during the media briefing.
This crackdown marks a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking in Agartala.
