NHIDCL said that if the 3 proposals of Ramky - ECI were not acceptable, better option would be offered for the completion of Package-III
The construction and maintenance work of the 2-lane Kohima Bypass Road in Nagaland (Package III) will be completed by March 2023, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) assured the Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench on Monday.
General manager of NHIDCL submitted that if NHIDCL did not find the three proposals of Ramky-ECI acceptable, they would take additional steps to present a better option for the completion of Package-III in accordance to the order of the two-judge bench of Justice LS Jamir and Justice Songkhupchung Serto.
Ramky-ECI had on December 18 submitted three proposals with an estimated project cost.
NHIDCL officials sought some time from Court as the plan would be examined, further discussed with project proponents, and then decide whether the joint venture (JV)’s proposals are acceptable.
The Court has granted time till January 15, 2023 and revert back and asked NHIDCL to file an affidavit regarding the decision taken by January 17, 2023. The next date of hearing has been scheduled for January 19.
The Court said that they would also present an alternate option for the completion of Package-III if the proposal was rejected by NHIDCL authorities.
Dismissing a case of December 14, the court has asked the JV to raise the bills and conduct a joint verification with the NHIDCL authorities. The Court said that the pending bills should be cleared on or before December 21, 2022 and no penalty amount should be deducted from the said bills.
Taking into account the concession made, the Court ordered the JV to ensure that Package-I and II were completed on or before January 15, 2023.
The court expressed satisfaction with NHIDCL’s action taken after receiving Rs 11.12 crores.
