LS Polls 2024: Fmr Arunachal CM and APCC president Nabam Tuki files nomination for Arunachal West

Nabam Tuki said that if voted to power, he would fight against economic, social, and political injustices in the state
Former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh and state Congress president Nabam Tuki today filed his nomination papers for the Arunachal West seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Tuki has filed his nomination papers at the DC office in Aalo. He was accompanied by party workers and a large number of his supporters.
After filing nominations, Nabam Tuki said that if voted to power, he would fight against economic, social, and political injustices in the state.
Nabam Tuki is likely to face a tough fight as he is pitted against Union Minister of Earth Sciences and 3-time BJP MP from Arunachal West seat, incumbent MP Kiren Rijiju, Arunachal Democratic Party (ADP) candidate Tumke Bagra and independent candidates–Ruhi Tagung, Tania June, Bimpak Siga and Bida Taku.
Nabam Tuki is the sitting MLA from Sagalee legislative assembly constituency in Papumpare district.
Six-time MLA, Tuki was first elected to the assembly in 1995 from Sagalee and served as Deputy Agriculture Minister in the Gegong Apang-led Arunachal Pradesh government. He was also the Transport and Civil Aviation Minister in 1988.
In the 1999 assembly elections, he was re-elected from the same seat and became a cabinet minister with the Environment and Forest portfolio in the Mukut Mithi Ministry.
He was re-elected from the same seat again in 2004, 2009 and served as the PWD and Urban Development Minister under the Gegong Apang and Dorjee Khandu Ministries.
He served as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh from November 2011 to January 2016 and again just for three days between July 13 to 16, 2016.
Tumke Bagra, a former 2-time BJP MLA from Along West (2014 and 2019) and a cabinet minister for industry, trade and commerce and skill development in the Pema Khandu government and former Deputy Speaker of Arunachal Assembly, Bagra quit the party on March 23, joined Arunachal Democratic Party the same day and got the ticket to fight for the Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat. He quit BJP as he did not get the ticket to contest from Along West for another term.
