Lifting Liquor ban: CM N. Biren backs govt’s move

Partial lifting of liquor ban is for the welfare of the society. This is what Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said in Churachandpur.

In a big statement, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today backed his government’s decision to lift the liquor ban in the state. Chief Minister N. Biren after attending an event in Churachandpur said that the government has taken the decision for the welfare of the people.

Besides, the Manipur Chief Minister welcomed the people of Churachandpur for supporting the government in it’s move to partially lift the Liquor Prohibition Act.

Chief Minister N. Biren said that people in the Churachandpur district are mostly educated intellectuals and are matured enough to realize as to why the government has made such a move.

It needs to be mentioned that the CM N Biren Singh government is facing the heat from different quarters of the society for deciding to lift the Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act 1991.

The CADA and women groups have already taken to the streets vehemently opposing the government’s decision.
