Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar has been put back on ventilator support and is still in critical condition, doctors treating her at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital said on Saturday.

The 92-year-old singer tested positive for Covid-19 on January 11.

She had developed Covid pneumonia. She was put on ventilator support a few weeks later, but her condition improved and she was gradually weaned off the ventilator support.

Her condition worsened two days ago, and she has been put back on ventilator support once again.

According to hospital staff, the singer had developed sepsis and all of her major organs were affected.

The complications were most likely caused by the virus while she was in the post-Covid phase, as more than 28 days had passed since her first positive report.

Lata Mangeshkar is undergoing treatment in the Breach Candy hospital. She is undergoing aggressive therapy and the doctors are constantly monitoring her.

Meanwhile, the singer’s team has been actively sharing updates on her health to put any rumours to rest.
