At a time when there is continued suspense over who will be the next Chief Minister of Manipur, the BJP is gaining in strength with more support pouring in.
After Naga People’s Front and the JD-U, the Kuki People’s Alliance has now extended unconditional support to the BJP for the formation of new government.
KPA President Tongmang Haokip along with two newly elected MLAs – Kimneo Haokip Hangshing and Chinlunthang submitted their letter of support to Governor La. Ganesan at Raj Bhavan In Imphal on March 18.
The KPA had won from the Saikul and Singhat Assembly seats.Earlier, Janata Dal (United) with 6 MLAs and NPF with 5 legislators had extended support to the BJP.
Besides, Independent MLA Sapam Nishikanta Singh has also extended support to the BJP.
Meawhile, suspense continues over who will be the next chief minister of the state with party leaders maintaining complete silence on the issue. While the BJP parliamentary board will take the final call, things are expected to be clear only when the two central observers Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Kiren Rijiju arrive in the state.
