The ambitious project will include the setting up of a Bio-Fuel Refinery, a Waste Plastic Pyrolysis Plant, and a Distillation Plant.
In a significant step towards sustainable development and economic growth, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Goal Bio-Oil Private Limited for the establishment of the Karbi Anglong Bio-Fuel Refinery Limited. The landmark agreement aims to boost the district’s green economy while creating new opportunities for employment and revenue generation.
The ambitious project will include the setting up of a Bio-Fuel Refinery, a Waste Plastic Pyrolysis Plant, and a Distillation Plant. These components are expected to play a vital role in addressing environmental concerns while simultaneously contributing to the local economy.
Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang described the project as a game-changer for Karbi Anglong. He stated that the initiative will bring substantial revenue to KAAC, enabling the council to undertake broader development activities and deliver improved public services across the district.
In addition to economic benefits, the project will provide technical support to farmers in the region, along with a buy-back policy that ensures market security for their produce. This initiative is expected to enhance agricultural sustainability while integrating farmers into the emerging bio-fuel economy.
Significantly, the project will also open up employment avenues for the youth of Karbi Anglong. Training and job opportunities in the new industrial facilities are anticipated to empower local communities and reduce migration in search of work.
The MoU marks a progressive move by KAAC towards embracing green technologies and inclusive development, positioning Karbi Anglong as a model district for environmental innovation and economic resilience in the Northeast.
