The Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) Deputy Commissioner’s office said that the surge in cases has been attributed to the large number of unvaccinated stray dogs in the region.

Urging all pet owners to make sure their dogs are vaccinated and to safely confine any aggressive animals or dogs within 15 days, the DC warned if the stated directive is not followed, the pets will be evicted.
Pet owners have also been asked to ensure that their pets are always on a leash when outside the home and should not be allowed to roam freely in public places.
They have been asked to alert the senior municipal veterinary officer (IMC) or any government veterinary officer right away if their pet exhibits any signs of rabies.
