Imphal airport’s name ‘wrongly printed’ on Air India tickets: MLA Imo Singh upset with Civil Aviation Minister’s response to his probe request

Air India’s airport ticketing office (ATO), Imphal International Airport, was printed on a few e-tickets as ATO, Lamka
Manipur BJP MLA RK Imo Singh is unhappy with the Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia’s response to his request for initiating an investigation into the incident of alleged “gross error” in the printing of the name of Imphal airport in a few tickets in an Air India flight.
It may be mentioned here that earlier this month, Air India’s airport ticketing office (ATO), Imphal International Airport, was printed as ATO, Lamka on a few e-tickets instead of ATO, Imphal.

Unhappy with the incident, the MLA had written a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to investigate and initiate strict action against anyone involved in changing the name of Air India ATO Imphal Airport office to Imphal Airport Lamka.

In reply to his letter on July 17, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, “Please refer to your letter dated 05 06 2023 regarding display of name of ATO Imphal airport on some tickets issued by Al’ India.
The matter was taken up with Air India. The Airline has intimated that during migration to a new Passenger Service System for reservation and ticketing, an error crept into the address details which led to the Airport Ticketing Office (ATO) al Imphal incorrectly being shown at Lamka. The dscrepancy in the office address came to the notice of the airline on 03.07.2023 and was subsequently rectified within a few hours. The Airline has however, conveyed its regret in this regard.”

MLA Singh said that even though he thanks the minister for getting into the case to ensure rectifying the discrepancy, but he is not happy with the action taken by the airline.
Posting the respone letter from Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Twitter, MLA Singh wrote, “Though I thank him for getting into the case to ensure rectifying the discrepancy, I am not too happy with the action taken by the airline as they have just regretted the act. As I said earlier there is only one airport in Manipur and there is no nearby or adjoining ATO by the name of Lamka where they can make an error, the alteration of such names could only be done by few people handling the Air India system. I urge Air India once again to go deeper into the conspiracy and take appropriate action against those involved so that they do not repeat such acts again.”
