A crucial meeting is expected between Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang and central leaders including Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju to discuss on the situation arising out of the Supreme Court verdict on Sikkim Nepali community, which tags them as “immigrant” or “foreigner.”
It was indeed for the first time when the Sikkim Chief Minister allayed apprehensions by openly in a public platform as his party SKM celebrated the 11th Foundation Day yesterday.
The Sikkim Chief Minister will be leaving for Delhi today.
“The Sikkim government is doing it’s job and there is no need for the people of the state to feel scared or insecured,” CM Tamang added.
Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang pointed out that, “the previous government is also responsible for such verdict to come up as this case was going on since 2013. All the debates held in the Supreme Court regarding this issue was during the SDF government and that it was only once the debate happened during the SKM government.”
Meanwhile, in a significant statement CM Tamang said, “the legislative assembly will hold a session on 9th February and pass a proposal which will also be sent to the central government.”
