Heavy traffic snarl due to collapse of Toon Bridge connecting North Sikkim

The only alternate route, through Sangkalang-Saffo-Shipgyer, is narrow and not suitable for two-way traffic, resulting in heavy traffic congestion.

Despite 8 months since the the devastating Glacial Lake Outburst Flood ravaged the Himalayan state, the construction of an alternative bridge to replace the Toong Bridge connecting North Sikkim, is yet to become a reality. The damaged bridge at Toong caused a halt in traffic between Mangan and Chungthang via Toong-Naga. The only alternate route, through Sangkalang-Saffo-Shipgyer, is narrow and not suitable for two-way traffic, resulting in heavy traffic congestion.
