Businessman Raj Kundra, who is married to actor Shilpa Shetty, caused a stir on social media when he posted about a “separation” without providing a clear context.

In his tweet, he stated, “We have separated and kindly request you to give us time during this difficult period.” This left many people on the internet puzzled, with some speculating it might be a promotional stunt.

Raj also shared the same message on his Instagram Stories. In response to his post, some users inquired if “separate” meant a divorce, while others expressed shock and a few even suspected it might be a publicity stunt or a movie gimmick.

However, in a subsequent post, Raj clarified that he was not referring to his marriage but to his face masks, which he had been wearing for the past few months. He bid farewell to his masks, expressing gratitude for their protection over the past two years as he moves on to the next phase of his journey.

Raj’s posts came shortly after he unveiled the trailer for his debut film, “UT69,” in which he plays the lead role. The film is centred around his jail time.

In July 2021, Raj Kundra was arrested and detained at Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail in connection with an alleged pornography-related case, which stirred significant controversy. He was released on bail in September of the same year after spending about two months in custody. He faced charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prevention) Act.

Raj, who maintains he was falsely implicated, intends to share his side of the story through his film, “UT69,” set to be released in theatres on November 3.

Discussing the film, Raj revealed that when he initially shared the idea with Shilpa, she was taken aback. However, she ultimately supported him and questioned his acting ability, to which he humorously replied that he had done some “method acting” by experiencing jail time. Raj and Shilpa Shetty have been married since 2009 and have two children, Viaan and Samisha.
