Randeep Batta, a resident of Panchkula, scripted record for donating his blood for the 152nd time at Aizawl Civil Hospital, in Mizoram

As Christian-dominated Mizoram on Friday celebrated Good Friday to mark the crucifixion of Jesus where he shed his blood to save the sinners, a 56-year-old man from Haryana, as a true spirit of Good Friday, quietly donated his blood to save lives.

Randeep Batta, a resident of Panchkula, scripted record for donating his blood for the 152nd time at Aizawl Civil Hospital, in Mizoram state capital more than 2,000 kms away from his home.

Batta, as part of his nationwide blood donation campaign, reached Aizawl on Thursday. He will go back on Saturday.

He is currently on a mission ‘Kashmir to Kanyakumari’ campaign to raise awareness about blood donation and motivate the young donors towards blood donation.

“I always advise young donors to lead a healthy life. Even today I am very particular about what I eat and drink, I avoid fried, spicy food and remain active. By doing so, I have been able to donate blood many times and I do not have any ailments,” he said.

Batta said he started donating blood from the age of 18 when he was participating in an NCC camp as a cadet in Shimla and a blood donation camp was organised there. He said he got motivated for blood donation when witnessing army jawans donating their blood.

The Haryana government has already honored Batta with a gold medal for his commitment to blood donation. Apart from this, he has also been honored more than 50 times for his commitment.
