Guwahati Stabbing: The police are currently verifying the victim’s statement and further questioning Burman and the two women involved.

In yet another disturbing incident within a week, a young woman was stabbed and left bleeding near Dispur police station early this morning, raising serious concerns about women’s safety in the city.

The attack occurred around 4:30 AM in Punjabi Gali, Ganeshguri, not far from the Dispur police station. According to eyewitness accounts, a woman on her morning walk spotted the victim lying unconscious and bleeding on the road. She immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the spot.

Initial investigations led to the detention of a Rapido driver, Raju Burman, who was reportedly present at the time of the incident along with two other women. Police sources confirm that an argument had broken out between the victim and the trio shortly before the stabbing.

However, the victim, now conscious and recovering, has stated that Raju Burman did not stab her. Instead, she claims she was attacked with a knife by Burman’s girlfriend, alleging the assault stemmed from a love triangle.

The police are currently verifying the victim’s statement and further questioning Burman and the two women involved.

This latest incident comes just days after another shocking incident of stabbing on June 23, when Kajal Das, an automobile showroom employee, was brutally attacked near Adabari bus stand in broad daylight. The assailant, Rajesh Roy, stabbed her multiple times on the face, neck, and hands before being arrested at the scene.

Both cases have triggered public outrage and sparked concern, and demands for stronger safety measures for women in Guwahati. Police have promised a swift investigation and strict action against the accused in both cases.
