A woman narrowly escaped death in Guwahati this morning after being electrocuted by an exposed high-voltage electricity cable near the under-construction flyover in Chandmari.

The victim has been identified as Romila Das.

As per inputs, Romila Das was crossing the road around 9:30 am when she unknowingly came into contact with a live electricity cable that had been left dangerously exposed due to wear and tear.

She collapsed on the road. Initially, many were afraid to intervene, but later a man used a bamboo pole to disconnect her from the live wire saving her life.

She was immediately rushed to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where she is currently under observation.

Doctors said that she is now out of danger, but the trauma of the incident is far from over.

Meanwhile, furious locals have blamed the construction authorities for their glaring oversight and demanded accountability and urgent safety measures from the authorities overseeing the flyover construction.
