Guwahati Traffic Alert! Traffic Diversion On GS Road From Today

No vehicles will be allowed on GS Road between Sixmile Flyover and Downtown during the restricted hours.

Traffic have been diverted on the busy G.S. Road, one of the major lifelines of Guwahati, owing to construction work of a flyover near Downtown Hospital in Rukminigaon area of the city.

According to the Traffic Police Department, the restrictions will be in place daily from 11.30 pm to 4.30 am of March 4 until the work is complete.

The authorities will fully close the GS Road between Sixmile Flyover and Downtown, impacting night travel across central Guwahati. No vehicles will be allowed on GS Road between Sixmile Flyover and Downtown during the restricted hours.

These diversions aim to ensure public safety, especially for vulnerable road users such as children, students, women, senior citizens, and differently-abled persons. Additionally, the move will allow emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire tenders to pass through smoothly.

To ensure the smooth movement of emergency vehicles and facilitate construction, the Traffic Police has outlined the following diversion plan:

  1. No vehicles on GS Road between Sixmile Flyover and Down Town (Both tracks) between 11.30 pm and 4.30 am every day2. All vehicles coming from Khanapara side towards VIP Road/Panjabari Road/Jayanagar road may ply as usual via the service road of Sixmile Flyover.
  2. Vehicles coming from Khanapara side towards Dispur may go via Jayanagar road-Beltola Bazar Road, Beltola-Survey road- Last Gate by taking the service lane of Sixmile flyover.
  3. Vehicles coming from Panjabari side towards Dispur may go via Jayanagar road-Beltola Bazar Road, Beltola-Survey road- Last Gate.
  4. The vehicles coming from Ananda Nagar side towards Dispur may also go via Jayanagar road-Beltola Bazar Road, Beltola-Survey road- Last Gate.
  5. All the vehicles of Rukminigaon area towards Dispur may take either the Beltola-Survey Road or the GNRC Dispur Road.
  6. The vehicles coming from Jayanagar side towards Dispur may take the Beltola Bazar Road -Beltola-Survey Road.
  7. The vehicles coming from Ganeshguri side towards Khanapara wil be diverted at Super Market flyover point towards Last Gate. All such vehicles may take the Beltola-Basistha Road.
  8. All vehicles coming from Ganeshguri side towards Downtown/ Sixmile may take the service road of the Super Market flyover and may go via Down Town bylane- Dwarka path- Ananda Nagar path.
  9. All vehicles coming from Last Gate side towards Down Town may also take the service road of the Super Market flyover and may go via Down Town bylane.
  10. No vehicle from the other major bylanes- (Purbanchal Path/Sun valley bylane/ Down Town bylane) wil be allowed to enter the GS Road. All such vehicles may take the Dwarka Path/ Ananda Nagar Path to reach Sixmile side or they can take Hengrabari Road/ Swahid Dilip Hujuri Path to reach Dispur side
  11. No vehicle from the other major bylanes- (Tongra Satra Road/Lakshmi Mandir path/ Rukminigaon Bylane) will be allowed to enter the GS Road. All such vehicles may take either Beltola survey Road or the GNRC Dispur Road.
  12. All vehicles coming from Down Town area towards Khanapara may take the VIP road via Sachal / Aananda Nagar and may proceed to Khanapara via GS Road.
  13. All vehicles coming from Down Town area towards Khanapara may take the VIP road via Sachal / Aananda Nagar and may proceed to Khanapara via GS Road.
  14. All vehicles coming from Down Town area towards Dispur may take Hengrabari Road or Swahid Dilip Hujuri path.
