Guwahati Police Busts Gang of Robbers, Arrests 7

The arrested persons are Sadek Ali, Akbar Ali, Lokman Ali, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Saidul Rahman, hailing from Darrang district, and Joynal Abdin hailing from Barpeta district.

In a major success, Guwahati Police arrested a seven-member gang of robbers in Assam’s Darrang district on Sunday.

As per inputs, a gang of robbers recently entered residential apartments in Guwahati’s Japorigog area with sharp weapons.

Following the incident, the gang was apprehended during a coordinated raid. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Latasil Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jyotishman Neog, who led the team in cracking down on the group.

The arrested persons are Sadek Ali, Akbar Ali, Lokman Ali, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Saidul Rahman, hailing from Darrang district, and Joynal Abdin hailing from Barpeta district. The identity of one person is yet to be ascertained.

Last week, at least three alleged robbers were arrested in Guwahati for allegedly being involved in multiple robbery cases.

The trio is accused of robbing multiple persons in the areas near Beltola and Basistha for several days.
The three suspects allegedly target people with golden chains and expensive mobile phones at knifepoint, later which they sell to their contacts.
