Girl Raped by 2 on Maha Shivratri in a Guwahati Hotel

The accused have been identified as Chandan Mahanta and Rohan Ali.

A 20-year-old girl was gang-raped by two youths in Guwahati’s Rajgarh area.

Although the incident took place on February 25 but came to light on Saturday after the victim filed a complaint with the police regarding this.

Speaking to the media, police stated that, according to the complaint, the accused identified as Chandan Mahanta and Rohan Ali offered the victim and her friend ‘prasad’ of Lord Shiva, likely bhaang, as it was Maha Shivratri. Since the victim had never tried it before, she agreed. However, instead of bhaang, the duo allegedly made her consume alcohol.

Subsequently, they suggested going for an outing. The victim’s friend grew suspicious and decided not to accompany them.

The accused then took the victim to Rashmi Hotel in Rajgarh, where they allegedly committed the crime.

Following the complaint, a case has been registered, and both accused have been arrested.

Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further details are awaited.
