General (R) V.K. Singh Sworn in as Mizoram’s 25th Governor

Ahead of assuming his responsibilities, General Singh, visited the revered Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on January 15.
General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.), the former Chief of Army Staff, was sworn in as the 25th Governor of Mizoram on Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Circular Lawn of the Raj Bhavan.
The oath of office and secrecy was administered by Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi. Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma, his cabinet colleagues, Assembly Speaker Lalbiakzama, Chief Secretary and senior officials from the civil and police departments attended the program.
Ahead of assuming his responsibilities, General Singh, visited the revered Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on January 15 to seek the blessings of Maa Kamakhya.
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first term, he held several key positions, including Minister of State for External Affairs, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), and Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation. In Modi’s second term, he served as Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation.
