FTII Arunachal Students on Indefinite Protest Over Long-Ignored Infrastructure Woes

Despite being a film institute, the campus lacks a proper stage, studio, and functional classroom facilities necessary for film and television education.

Students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Arunachal Pradesh, have been staging an indefinite protest since May 15, demanding urgent redressal of chronic infrastructural issues on campus.

From inadequate classrooms and equipment to poor living conditions, the students allege that their repeated appeals to authorities have gone unheard, leaving them no choice but to take to protest.

The primary concerns raised by the students include the unprotected boundary wall of the campus, the lack of basic amenities such as clean water and reliable electricity, and the incomplete construction of essential infrastructure including the academic block and hostels.

Despite being a film institute, the campus lacks a proper stage, studio, and functional classroom facilities necessary for film and television education.

The students have reportedly been raising these issues since 2014, but due to continued inaction from the authorities, they have now suspended all academic activities until their demands are addressed.

Adding to their concerns is the absence of a full-time Director, which they fear could jeopardize their academic and professional future.

The protest continues, with students urging immediate intervention from the concerned authorities to safeguard the institute’s standards and their careers.
