Four militants of PREPAK (PRO) and PLA held in separate operations in Manipur

They were allegedly involved in extortions from the shops located in and around Paona Bazar, Police said.

At least four militants were arrested in separate operations in Manipur’s Imphal West and Thoubal districts, police said on Thursday.

Two active members of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front were arrested from Imphal West district on Wednesday.

Arrested cadres were identified as Nepram Bothe Meitei (24) and Yengkhom Gyandas Singh (24).

As per Manipur police, they were allegedly involved in extortions from the shops located in and around Paona Bazar.

Pistol along with one magazine loaded with 7 (seven) rounds of 7.65 ammunition, Rs. 6210 in cash, an unregistered two-wheeler, two mobile handsets, Aadhar cards, and incriminating articles including demand letters were seized from their possession.

In a separate operation on January 29, security forces detained two members of the banned militant outfit of People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-Pro) were arrested in Manipur’s Thoubal district.

Two cadres of the proscribed PREPAK-Pro were arrested from Tentha under Khongjom-PS,of Thoubal district, police said.


They were identified as Leishangthem Hemanta Singh @Leishemba (41) and Kiyam Open Meitei @Penthokpa (41).
