Four Earthquakes in Nine Hours Shake Northeast, Strongest Hits Manipur

The strongest quake, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, struck Kamjong district in Manipur at 11:06 AM at a depth of 110 km.

A series of earthquakes jolted the Northeast and parts of Myanmar within a span of nine hours on Wednesday, triggering panic among residents.

The strongest quake, measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, struck Kamjong district in Manipur at 11:06 AM at a depth of 110 km. A second tremor of magnitude 4.1 followed at 12:20 PM in the same region, at a depth of 66 km.

Earlier in the day, the region bordering with Myanmar experienced two earthquakes. The first, recorded at 4.7 magnitude, hit at 3:36 AM at a depth of 32 km, followed by another tremor of 4.5 magnitude at 3:54 AM, with a depth of 10 km.

People in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur felt the tremors, with some reports of minor damage in Manipur. Authorities are monitoring the situation, and no major casualties have been reported.
