Ibobi demanded an apology from the officials responsible for instructing security forces to hide the name Manipur.
Former Manipur Chief Minister and CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh, has called the recent developments in the state a total failure of the Government and a threat to the state’s territorial integrity.
Speaking to the media regarding the concealing of the signage on the state transport bus, Ibobi demanded an apology from the officials responsible for instructing security forces to hide the name Manipur.
He added that it is a threat to the state’s territorial integrity if the name Manipur, has to be kept hidden within the state. Ibobi said “According to our calculation, it is a total failure of the Government of India, particularly Home Ministry because the Governor is the constitutional head of the state. He represents the supreme commander that is President of India. Even he cannot travel from the airport to Raj Bhavan which is hardly 7 KM by road. And he has to be picked up by helicopter, he landed at Kangla Fort and rushed to the Raj Bhavan which is a matter of shame and it is a total failure of the Government of India because Government of India under Home Ministry is directly ruling the state presently.”
Raising questions regarding the concealing of the signage on the state transport bus, Ibobi asked who ordered that the Manipur word should be erased.
Ibobi further said that it is an irresponsible attitude of NDA government as it is at the Centre and it is failing to handle the situation despite having the Governor as the competent authority in Manipur.
Upping the ante on the Bharatiya Janata Party, Ibobi raised a serious question as why the party is not able to parade 35 to 40 MLAs at Raj Bhavan and form a popular government in the state and said that this is the reason why there is a public uprising in the state.
