Former CM Pawan Kumar Chamling’s Daughter Defaults On Loan Payment Of Rs 2.3 Crores

The State Bank of Sikkim has seized other properties as well after loan payment default.

In a major development State Bank of Sikkim has seized property of Kiran Chettri, a former SDF leader, after SDF patriarch and 5-time Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling’s daughter defaulted on a loan of Rs 2.3 crore.

The property, in Gangtok’s Tadong near the Tadong outpost, was sealed and taken over by the SBS.

Kiran Chettri’s property was seized and sealed by the bank authorities as Sushila Chamling had secured the loan by mortgaging Chettri’s property.

Not just the property linked to former CM Pawan Chamling’s daughter Sushila Chamling, but the State Bank of Sikkim has seized other properties as well after loan payment default by other customers.

Earlier today, the Hotel Lhasa located in the metro area of Gangtok was sealed by the State Bank of Sikkim after the owners failed to repay a loan of approximately Rs 6 crore, taken in 2017. The bank’s action follows multiple attempts to recover the outstanding amount, leading to the formal takeover of the property.

On the other hand, the The State Bank of Sikkim also took possession of the land and building belonging to Palden Bhutia at Sangtong Block, Ranka, under Gangtok District, following a Rs 2 crore loan default. The action was initiated after repeated reminders and non-compliance with loan repayment obligations. SBS officials confirmed that the property attachment was conducted in accordance with legal procedures. Further steps are to be taken to recover the dues as per the bank’s recovery policy.
