The Food Safety department intensifying its drive against chemically ripened fruits carried out it’s latest raid at Guwahati’s Fancy Bazaar. Food Safety officials seized 15 quintals of mangoes which were ripened using toxic calcium carbide.

However, a godown in Maligaon uses traditional method to ripen fruits instead of modern chemical methods. The Food Safety officials confirmed saying that they refrain from using harmful chemicals.
