Flood situation in and around Imphal improved slightly as water levels of the three major rivers namely Imphal River, Nambul River and Irang River that passes through the Manipur Capital receded.

Although, flood situation in the Greater Imphal areas improved slightly, but situation still remains grim and is far from being normal.

Meanwhile, breach of the Imphal River at Chekon area in Imphal East has been repaired. Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh personally monitored the repairing work of the breach.

The Thoubal district has been among the worst affected in the state where incessant rains since the last few days threw normal life out of gear.

Troopers of the Assam Rifles had to step in to rescue stranded people and provide them relief. The Assam Rifles troopers also carried out rescue operations in Irong and Maibam villages near Mayang Imphal. The troops also supplied ration to the affected populace.

Meanwhile, landslides triggered by incessant rains in the last few days in Manipur has put vehicular movement along the Imphal-Jiribam road at a standstill.
