Flash Floods in Sikkim Day 2: NH10 blocked in Singtam, several other roads blocked due to landslides

Destruction and devastation continues in several parts of Sikkim as the state continues to be lashed by heavy rainfall triggering landslides and flash floods for the second day today.

Landslides and flood waters have blocked part of National Highway 10 at Shanti Nagar in Singtam. Several other roads are blocked and bridges have been washed away.

The Ranikhola river is in full spat flowing close to the danger level.

On Monday, as many as 3 deaths were reported from Yangyang, around 53 km from Gangtok and at least 8 houses were washed away due to flash floods at Majuwa village in South Sikkim.
Apart from the three deaths, a woman was seriously injured after the flash flood hit her village around 6 am. The injured woman was rushed to Singtam District Hospital.

Meanwhile, soon after taking oath as the CM, Prem Singh Tamang held a Cabinet meeting and announced the decision to approve ex-gratia to the families who lost their loved ones and families who were affected by the flood water and landslides.
