Amid escalating border tensions between India and China, five people from Upper Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh have reportedly been abducted by China’s People’s Liberation Army.
The five abducted persons belong to the Tagin community and were abducted from the jungles near Nacho bordering China while they were out hunting. According to media reports from the frontier State, this was informed by one of the relatives of the abducted persons.
The villagers who have reportedly been abducted are Toch Singkam, Prasad Ringling, Dongtu Ebiya, Tanu Baker and Ngaru Diri.
Two other villagers who had accompanied the abducted persons managed to escape and later narrated the incident to the locals.
However, the relatives reportedly have not yet made any communication with the Army regarding the incident.
The relatives of the victims are on their way for Nacho to discuss with the army officials and ascertain the incident. The family members and relatives have reportedly appealed the authorities concerned to take serious note of the incident and initiate steps to bring the five back to the country.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Baman Felix has informed Northeast Live that the State Government is aware of the development of reports of 5 villagers being abducted by the China’s PLA troppers from Nacho bordering China.
Speaking to Northeast Live, Arunachal Home Minister Baman Felix said that the State Government is taking up the matter with the Army other relevant authorities and are trying to ascertain the exact details of the matter.
Talking exclusively to Northeast Live, Arunachal Lok Sabha East MP Tapir Gao confirmed the ‘abduction’ of the 5 youths from the jungles near Nacho bordering China while they were out hunting. The MP further said that the government as well as other concerned agencies are on the job to rescue the ‘abducted’ individuals. Not only this, Tapir Gao alleged that there are also several other incidents of incursion into the Indian territory by the PLA that have occurred in the recent past.
On the other hand, Congress MLA from Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh, Ninong Ering expressed shock over the reports and said that befitting reply must be given to the PLA and China.
Arunachal Pradesh Police are trying to ascertain the details of the reports of 5 youths being abducted by the China’s People’s Liberation Army from the jungles of Nacho bordering China. This was informed by Arunachal Pradesh Police Chief RP Upadhaya.
The Arunachal DGP further informed that the youths went missing on September 3, but no official complaint was lodged by their family members. He further informed that he is in touch with the Army in this regard.
