First Meghalaya International Film Festival 2023 in Shillong to begin today

The festival will screen over 65 films and documentaries during the 5-day event

The 5-day long Meghalaya International Film Festival (MeghiFF) will be kicked off this evening at Shillong.

MeghiFF marks the celebration of the best of the best international cinema with films chosen and curated to bring a wide variety of cultural production to Meghalaya. 

The festival will screen over 65 films and documentaries in a span of 5 days with a gala opening this evening at the Soso Tham Auditorium.

During the festival, Romi Meitei’s Film ‘Eikhoigee Yum’ (Our Home) will also be screened.

Moreover, National award-winning filmmaker Borun Thokchom has been invited to be a resource person at the festival. 

State Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh will inaugurated the 1st Meghalaya International Film Festival. 

National award-winning actor Adil Hussain will grace the occasion as Special Guest, said reports.

The first Meghalaya International Film Festival 2023 is an initiative of the Meghalaya Filmmakers’ Association (MeFilMA), and Meghalaya Tourism, Government of Meghalaya. 

The 5-day long festival will conclude on March 18, 2023.

MeghIFF is expected to attract viewers from across the country as well as guest countries.
