First case of COVID-19 detected in North East amid COVID surge in the country. Pregnant woman in Itanagar tests positive

COVID-19 detected in Arunachal: The case has been reported from Ramakrishna Mission Hospital in state capital Itanagar.

Amid the fresh rising wave of COVID cases in the country, the Northeastern region has reported its first COVID positive case. A pregnant woman in Arunachal Pradesh has been tested COVID positive.

The case has been reported from the Ramakrishna Mission Hospital in state capital Itanagar where the patient is admitted.

Hospital sources confirmed to Northeast Live that the woman had symptoms of COVID and was advised to undergo testing, following which she was found to be COVID positive. The patient since then has been admitted in the hospital and has been kept in isolation. While the patient’s condition is stated to be stable, she is being kept under constant observation by the hospital authorities.

Meanwhile the hospital is gearing up for more possible COVID cases. Significantly there is no dedicated COVID ward in the hospital and hence preparations are afoot to make arrangements in case of an outbreak. So far no other hospitals in Itanagar have reported any more COVID cases. With the detection of this first COVID positive case in Itanagar, COVID scare has once again returned to the Northeast.

The COVID-19 worry has spread once again as cases rise in the India with the total Coronavirus cases in the country reaching 1010 on May 27.

However, with mild and subtle symptoms, experts have advised people not to panic, but state advisories urge residents to maintain hygiene. The new variants NB.1.8.1 and LF.7 are under observation by the World Health Organisation and no reason for concern has been flagged yet.

As cases rises in Kerala and cross the 400 mark, residents are concerned, spikes were also observed in Delhi, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Punjab reported its first case earlier today and have begun contact tracing of patient.
