Fierce gunbattle between Assam Rifles troopers, NSCN-IM in Arunachal’s Tirap

A fierce encounter between NSCN-IM militants and Assam Rifles has been reported in an area between Langkai and Laho village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.

It is being suspected that 3 rebels of the outlawed group have been killed in the gun-battle.

Earlier, late Tuesday night at least three militants, one of which was suspected to be a cadre of the NSCN-K, were killed in a gun battle with the security forces at Wating Basti in Nagaland’s Mon district along the Indo-Myanmar Border.

It is being suspected that along with the NSCN-K cadres, cadres of the Paresh Baruah led ULFA-Independent were also involved in the gun fight.

According to sources, 10 to 12 member group of militants from both the insurgent outfits equipped with sophisticated weapons were taking shelter in the area in their bid to enter Assam.

The security forces have intensified its anti-insurgency operations in bordering areas to foil terror plans
