The Winter Session of Parliament began today with all eyes on the Farm Laws Repeal Bill 2021.

As the start of the 1st day has indicated the Parliament session is expected to be a stormy one as the opposition has vowed to corner the government over the farmer’s demand for the law on minimum support price (MSP) for crops and issues like inflation etc.

Rajya Sabha has already faced one adjournment on day one due to the opposition’s insistent sloganeering in its attempt to put the government in a spot on issues of farm laws & farmers’ protests.

It may be mentioned that on Guru Purab Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the announcement on the repeal of the three farm laws. However, the protesting farmers refused to end their stir until the laws were repealed in the Parliament.

The Winter Session of Parliament will continue till December 23rd. Besides the farm laws repeal, 26 other Bills are listed to be tabled during the month-long session.

The Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021, the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019, and other Bills listed will be tabled during the session.
