Explosive | “Yes I Went to Pakistan with My Wife”, Admits Congress MP and Dy LoP LS, Gaurav Gogoi, Assam CM Says More Serious Stuff Coming

Gaurav Gogoi Pakistan Visit: Gaurav Gogoi said that he had travelled to Pakistan in 2013 and his wife had stayed in Pakistan for a year.

In a big admission, Congress MP and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi for the first time today admitted that he had gone to Pakistan.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi two days after being appointed the Assam Congress Chief, Gogoi said, “14-15 years ago my wife who is a public policy expert, she worked on an international project on climate change, it was a South Asian project. She was in Pakistan for one year for the project. She came back to India in 2012-13 and in 2015 she took up a different job. I went to Pakistan in 2013 with my wife”.

Referring to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s continued attack on him and his wife regarding the issue, Gogoi without naming CM Sarma said that these inputs are being used to made a “C grade Bollywood movie to be released on September 10 which will be a flop”.

Asked about the citizenship of his wife and children, Gogoi said it is purely a “personal and private matter”.

Chief Minister Sarma was quick to respond to Gogoi’s admission. Taking to X Chief Minister Sarma wrote, “Finally , Congress MP Shri Gaurav Gogoi has admitted that he visited Pakistan. But let us be very clear — this is just the beginning, not the end. What lies ahead is far more serious. There exists every reasonable ground, supported by credible inputs and documented information, to suggest that Shri Gogoi has maintained proximity with the Pakistani establishment. The Government of Assam, committed to transparency and accountability, will make everything public on 10th September, once the Special Investigation Team (SIT) concludes its comprehensive inquiry. The people of Assam and the nation deserve the truth — and they shall have it, in full. But the people will also not forget — nor forgive — the Congress party and Shri Rahul Gandhi for deliberately promoting such a dangerous and compromised individual into the public life of our country.”

Now that Gaurav Gogoi admitted he and his wife went to Pakistan his wife worked in Pakistan is likely to give fresh ammunition to Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the run up to the 2026 Assembly elections in Assam.

Political pundits believe that Gaurav Gogoi and his wife’s alleged links with Pakistan is going to snowball into a major political issue in the 2026 Assam Assembly Elections.

Assam Government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate about Gaurav Gogoi and his wife’s alleged links with Pakistan, the final investigation report will be submitted by 10 September 2025.
