The Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) on Wednesday termed the death of former Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) official Tumi Gangkak as suicidal in nature. Citing the postmorterm, APP spokesperson Sanjay Bhatia said that he died of asphyxiation due to hanging. The report further said that Gangkak was alive before hanging. He had checked the internet for cures for depression. Gangkak’s phone has been sent to FSL for further investigation.
“Two cut marks were found in his wrist and leg but the report said the cuts were not enough to cause his death. We have recovered the blades from the place of occurrence and also from his house. We are examining the blades,” the spokesperson said.

The police further checked CCTV footage of Gangkak’s route that he took from his house to the place of occurrence. During the entire route no one walked inside nor did anyone step out of his vehicle. He was seen driving alone.

Gangkak was former under secretary and assistant controller of exams at APPSC. He was suspended for his alleged involvement in the APPSC question paper leak case. He was found hanging from a tree near the Ganga Lake area, along the Jote-Poma road on February 23, 2023.
