Elephant Calf Rescued from Pond in Assam

Amid the ongoing man-elephant conflict in Assam, a touching rescue operation took place in Golaghat district of Assam where an elephant calf was saved by a joint effort of locals and forest department officials.
The incident took place at Perajangal in Morongi block, where the young elephant, believed to have been separated from its herd, was found trapped in a deep pond. The distressed calf caught the attention of local residents, who immediately alerted the forest department.
A rescue operation was launched, and with the help of an excavator, a portion of the pond’s side was dug out to create an escape path. After hours of dedicated effort, the calf successfully climbed out of the pond, much to the relief and joy of the rescuers.
The rescued calf has reportedly rejoined its herd, marking a happy end to the episode.
