Dimapur Floods: 3 Dead, Flights Suspended, NH-29 Blocked

Dimapur Flood: Flight operations at Dimapur Airport were suspended on Sunday after floodwaters inundated the runway and parking bays.
At least three people have lost their lives and normal life has come to a standstill in Dimapur, Nagaland’s commercial capital, following days of incessant rainfall that has triggered severe flooding across the region.
Three individuals, including a woman, were electrocuted in their homes after floodwaters entered residential areas in Dimapur. The tragic incidents occurred over the weekend in Burma Camp and Kuda Village.
Flight operations at Dimapur Airport were suspended on Sunday after floodwaters inundated the runway and parking bays. Airlines such as IndiGo and Air India Express cancelled flights, advising passengers to check directly with carriers for updates.
Vehicular movement on National Highway 29, which connects Dimapur with Kohima, has been severely affected due to landslides triggered by the relentless rain. Blockages on sections of the highway have made commuting risky and disrupted essential transport.
Dimapur, Kohima, and Niuland districts are among the worst hit. Submerged bridges, damaged homes, ruined fisheries, and waterlogged paddy fields have raised alarms over food security in the region. In Niuland district alone, around 70 villages have been affected by the floods.
In Half-Nagarjan, Dimapur, floodwaters rose up to three feet, forcing residents to wade through water or use boats. Authorities have rescued at least 52 people from severely inundated areas.
While water levels have begun to recede slightly, authorities remain on high alert as damage assessments and relief operations continue.
