The demise of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has left a huge void in the Indian music industry, as well as a shock and sadness across the country.
The legendary singer has died this morning in Mumbai. She was 92.
She breathed her last at around 8:12 am in the ICU of the Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai where she was undergoing treatment.

From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chief Ministers of Northeast to fans, well-wishers and from the entire music fraternity condolences poured in from all sides soon after the demise of the Queen of melody. They all termed it as a great loss for the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his deepest condolences on the demise of the legendary singer and said he is anguished beyond words.
The Prime Minister took to Twitter and wrote, “The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice had an unparalleled ability to mesmerise people.”
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma also paid tributes to the Nightingale of India during a function today in Nalbari with a moment of silence. Later, he also talked of the importance of Lata Mangeshkar as a cultural icon of India.
“India grieves the demise of great #LataDidi, most loved, most adored and a kind human being who touched a billion hearts with her captivating voice. Her passing away marks the end of an era, but her songs & spirit will live on in the hearts & minds forever. #मेरी_आवाज_ही_पहचान_है.” CM Sarma tweeted.
Union Minister of Shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal has also taken to Twitter to condole the demise of Legendary singer.
“The end of an era. India’s golden voice, Bharat Ratna, legendary singer, Queen of Melody Lata Mangeshkar ji is no more. I join the nation in mourning for the great soul and offer my heartfelt condolences to the millions of fans of Lata di. Om Shanti,” Minister Sonowal tweeted.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed his deepest condolences on the demise of the singer and paid tributes to Lata Mangeshkar.
“Deeply saddened on hearing the demise of legendary singer, #LataMangeshkar Didi. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and to all her admirers in this difficult time. Her legacy will continue to live in our hearts. Om Shanti!,” CM Biren Singh tweeted.
Meanwhile, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga also paid his tributes to the departed Nightingale of India.
“India has lost a shining star with the passing of the incomparable #LataMangeshkar . The nightingale of India will remain an inspiration for millions. My condolences to her family,” CM Zoramthanga tweeted.
Expressing his deepest condolence on the demise of the singer, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said her passing is a huge loss for the world of music, which can never be compensated.
Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar wrote on Twitter, “Extremely saddened by the passing away of Nightingale of India, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar Ji. She was a true devotee of music and has sung more than 30,000 songs. Her voice will sooth the ears of melophiles for years to come.“
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma took to Twitter and wrote, “Smti Lata Mangeshkar Ji’s soft and beautiful melodious voice was always distinctive. Her songs were not only mesmerising but were soothing to the soul. Rest in Peace dearest Lata Ji. Your voice will forever be immortal.”
