‘Dance Naked, Commit Suicide, Else Will Hang You’: RIMS Director’s Alleged Remarks Spark Student Protest, Demands Removal

Manipur RIMS: The students strongly condemned the Director’s actions and criticised the Dean and Sub-Dean for failing to intervene.
Tensions flared at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal as MBBS students launched a protest demanding the immediate removal of the Director, Dean, and Sub-Dean. The unrest was triggered by serious allegations that the Director used abusive and threatening language toward students.
Protesters claim the Director made alarming remarks, allegedly telling students to “dance naked,” “commit suicide,” or that he would “hang them.” Deeply disturbed by these statements, a large number of students staged a rally that began from the All Manipur Students’ Union office at DM Campus, Imphal.
In a statement to Northeast Live, the students strongly condemned the Director’s actions and criticised the Dean and Sub-Dean for failing to intervene.
They insisted that the silence of both officials amounted to complicity and called for all three to be removed from their positions.
The Superintendent of RIMS later arrived at the protest site to engage with the students and address their grievances.
However, the students firmly refused any dialogue until decisive action is taken against the Director and the senior officials involved.
