In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity and support, the Dalai Lama Trust has extended a generous donation of Rs 10,00,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for the flood-affected regions of Sikkim. This act of kindness and compassion comes amidst the challenging times faced by the people of Sikkim in the wake of flash floods.

Sikkim’s Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang, on behalf of the state government and the people of Sikkim, expressed his deep gratitude to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The Chief Minister shared his appreciation for the Dalai Lama’s compassionate concerns and prayers, stating, “We are deeply moved by His Holiness’s compassionate concerns and prayers. We sincerely wish for His lasting well-being and joy, as his wisdom and compassion continue to motivate and steer us along our path.”

The Chief Minister also emphasized the profound significance of the Dalai Lama Trust’s support during this trying period. He expressed his immense appreciation, saying, “The unwavering support from the Trust has been a source of immense strength and inspiration for our community.”

Earlier, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama who was scheduled to pay a five-day visit to Sikkim from October 16-22 had been postponed until further notice, owing to the current disaster in the Himalayan State caused by floods following the glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) at the Lhonak Lake in the Chungthang area of North Sikkim.
