At least 1,764 farmers are facing significant hardship as Cyclone Remal with its unprecedented intensity destroyed 446 houses, devastated 397 hectares of cultivable land and damaged 384 metric tons of standing crops, mostly paddy valued at Rs 8.30 crores, said Tripura Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
The power and agriculture sectors have been significantly affected; however, no human casualties were reported from any part of the state, said the Minister.
Minister Chowdhury said that the state recorded an average rainfall of 215.5 mm over the last 24 hours, with the highest rainfall of 252.4 mm in Unakoti and the lowest of 168 mm in South Tripura.
Several rivers are flowing above the flood warning level and fishermen have been advised not to venture out due to the risk of thunderstorms, he added.

Chief Minister Manik Saha is closely monitoring the situation and has directed all concerned departments to act promptly to restore normalcy and assist those affected.
The Minister said that a series of high-level meetings had been conducted under the leadership of the Chief Secretary (CS) and Director General of Police (DGP), Amitabh Ranjan with all relevant line departments participating and all District Magistrates (DMs) and Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) were instructed to remain on high alert, with the departments of Revenue, Power, Public Works Department (PWD), and Transport working around the clock.
Minister Chowdhury emphasized the government’s commitment to managing the crisis efficiently and ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and fire services are on constant alert and Rs 50 crores have been allocated from the state disaster relief fund to compensate for the losses.
